Understanding Your Dental Insurance Benefits

How We Work With Your Insurance, Even If We’re Out of Network

One of the most common questions we hear is, “Do you take my insurance?” The answer is almost always yes, even if we’re not in your specific insurance network. Here’s how dental insurance actually works and how we help you maximize your benefits.

When you have a PPO insurance plan, you typically have out-of-network benefits that allow you to visit any dentist you choose. While in-network dentists have pre-negotiated fees with your insurance company, out-of-network providers like Gardens Dentistry can still file claims on your behalf. You’ll receive reimbursement directly from your insurance company based on your plan’s out-of-network coverage, which is often 50-80% of the procedure cost.

Our team handles all the paperwork and submits claims directly to your insurance company. We’ll provide you with a detailed treatment plan that includes estimated insurance coverage before you begin any procedure, so there are no surprises. For many of our patients, the quality of care, advanced technology, and personalized attention they receive at Gardens Dentistry far outweighs any minor difference in out-of-pocket costs.

It’s important to understand that dental insurance doesn’t work the same way as medical insurance. Most dental insurance plans provide coverage for preventive care like cleanings and exams at 100%, basic procedures like fillings at 70-80%, and major procedures like crowns or implants at 50%. However, insurance rarely covers cosmetic procedures like veneers or teeth whitening. That’s where our flexible financing options come in.

Frequently Asked Questions

Understanding your insurance coverage and payment options is an important part of your dental care journey. Here are the questions we hear most often from patients in the Palm Beach Gardens community.

Not having insurance shouldn’t prevent you from receiving excellent dental care. We offer an in-house membership plan that provides preventive care and discounts on procedures for patients without insurance. We also work with CareCredit and Cherry to provide flexible payment options, including 0% financing for qualified patients. Additionally, we accept HSA and FSA accounts, and can set up customized in-house payment plans to fit your budget.

Our insurance specialist, Renee, will verify your benefits before your first visit. We’ll contact your insurance company directly to understand your coverage, deductible, and annual maximum. Before any major procedure, we’ll provide you with a detailed estimate of what your insurance will cover and your out-of-pocket cost. We believe in complete transparency so you can make informed decisions about your dental care.

Yes, we accept Medicare and veterans’ insurance. While dental coverage under these plans can be limited, we’ll work with you to maximize the benefits available. Many Medicare Advantage plans include dental coverage, and we’ll help you understand which procedures are covered under your plan. For veterans, we accept veterans’ insurance and will coordinate with your VA benefits to ensure you receive the care you deserve.
